Exit Permits & Regulations

The first Order in Council prohibiting women who are not in the armed forces or members of the public service and children under the age of 12 from leaving Canada by sea was approved on June 4, 1940. Subsequent Orders in Council were approved to modify this initial regulation as circumstances demanded. These Orders in Council are shown below in chronological order by the date they were approved.
